GFS (monitor): GlobalFoundries gains a potentially capital-light growth path from two externally funded New York fabs receiving up to $21B from Japan: GFS will supply technology, operate the facilities, manage customers and earn construction, operating and licensing fees. The first ~$10B fab targets 2029 operations, while $955M of existing CHIPS funding is being redirected toward silicon photonics, SiGe and advanced packaging.
