Update: Brookfield discount analysis
BN (update): Brookfield appears cheap because its underlying assets have become less expensive, not because its discount to Plan Value is unusually wide. Since the December 2022 BAM spinout, the discount has narrowed from the high-50% range to the high-30% range. BAM’s valuation is roughly flat, while earnings multiples for BIPC and BEPC — about $20 billion of Brookfield’s holdings — have declined significantly.
